Tonnes SULPHUR in bulk of M/S SAIL from m.v STERLING SEAS at East Quay- 5 on 15th July-2007.

Team VCT achieved the milestone of highest Container handling ever recorded in a month. A record throughput of 61468 TEUs in May 2023 were handled. We surpassed our previous best Container handling throughput of 56578 TEUs in March 2023. During this course we also handled 49 vessels in May 2023 which is the Highest ever thereby surpassing our previous highest handling of 42 vessels in April 2023.

Shri Shyam Chand, IFS, Under Secretary, and Shri Gautam Pandey, IFS, FMR Consul General of India, Sittwe, visited VPA. Shri K. Rama Mohana Rao, IAS, Chairman, VPA gave a warm welcome to the MEA Delegation. The main agenda of the visit to Visakhapatnam Port is to promote and prioritise the importance of the Sittwe Port Project in Myanmar, which has been fully funded and operationalised by the Government of India. In this regard, viewing the sensitivity and importance of this Port Project for the Government of India and the Government of Myanmar, the MEA and VPA officials discussed on the business opportunities and infrastructure facilities available in Sittwe Port. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative and Flagship Programme of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of India’s independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commenced on 12th March 2021, the day on which Dandi March was inaugurated in 1930, which started a 75-week countdown to the 75th Anniversary of Independence and will end post a year on 15th August 2023. The event was flagged off by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 12th March 2021, which was undertaken by 81 marchers from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari.

Visakhapatnam Port Trust handled the highest volume of cargo in a single day on 26-12-2021, wherein 3,70,029 MT of cargo was handled combinedly at Inner harbour and Outer harbour including SPM, through 21 vessels that had worked in port. This is the highest tonnage handled in VPT since its inception duly surpassing the previous best of 3,47,722MT handled through 19 vessels on 02-12-2021.
